FIELD LABORER

 

LOCATION:  Rogers, MN (Work in Twin Cities Metro Area)

 

NATURE OF WORK

Responsible for assisting in potholing, remediation, site restoration, setting hand holes, pulling fiber and other duties as needed on-site.  Required to keep good records, as built drawings and complete daily paperwork.


Must have experience in or around all operations of directional boring machines and other pieces of equipment as needed, such as a backhoe and vacuum excavator.

REQUISITE SKILLS

 

 Education / Certification: 

·      Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent.

·      Prefer previous experience or certification but company will provide industry training and certifications if not already secured.

·      Current and Valid Driver’s License.  CDL is a plus.

 

Experience: 

·      1-year in construction or landscaping, or equivalent a plus.

·      Preferably have knowledge of placing buried utilities

  

Technical Skills: 

·      Knowledge of utility depths and placements; general knowledge of construction practices.

·      Dig pits, trenches and foundations in preparation for job site construction

·      Operate heavy machinery, including construction vehicles

·      Identify utility lines

·      Perform setup and cleanup tasks at job site

·      Direct traffic when necessary to ensure safety of pedestrians, motorists and work crew

·      Back-fill trenches and pits when necessary

·      Provide labor support as needed for specialty crew

·      Perform general maintenance of construction equipment and vehicles

·      Additonal operator experience for backhoe or excavator a plus, or manual transmission as whole

·      Performs all duties according to prescribed safety procedures and uses appropriate safety equipment. 

Physical Requirements / Aptitude: 

·      Able to work with moderate to loud noise levels.

·      Able to move in different positions – crouching, kneeling, reaching, bending and lifting 75 lbs., unassisted.

·      must be able to communicate effectively-speak english proficiently

·      ensure company policies and procedures are being followed-safety

·      have time management of priorities

·      be able to manage scheduling

·      have strong mechanical skills

·      have strong troubleshooting skills

·      Willing to work overtime when required; willing to travel and to work in all-weather conditions.

·      Self-motivated and able to work well in groups.

·      Work up to 6 day weeks in an all -weather environment is required.

·      A pre-employment, on site equipment operator certification will be required. The applicant must successfully operate the equipment to the satisfaction of the construction supervision.

·      Must pass a customer driven background check.

·      Must pass pre hire drug screen and drivers record check.

·      All applicants must be comfortable digging or drilling around existing working underground utilities.

·      This position requires significant time doing manual labor functions, walking on uneven ground, working in tight spaces and in general, being overall physically demanding.

·      Must perform duties in a safe and efficient manner.



LOCATOR

LOCATION:  Rogers, MN (Work in Twin Cities Metro Area)

 

NATURE OF WORK

Directional Drill Locators are a specialty-trained employee with experience in locating for horizontal directional drills.

The individual in this position is required to work at all times with safety in mind. Must be able to read, understand and follow company policies and procedures related to safety, and attend all scheduled safety meetings, as well as competent person.

Education / Certification: 

Qualifications and Work Environment: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

·      Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent.

·      3+ year experience operating a directional drill

·      3+ year experience as a locator

 

Experience: 

·      1-year working with Vermeer or Ditch Witch DDD, or equivalent a plus.

·      Preferably have knowledge of placing buried utilities

·      Prior experience in underground fiber and coax construction a plus

·      Previous experience operating a bore machine is required

·      Knowledge of utility depths and placements

  

Technical Skills: 

·      Knowledge of utility depths and placements; general knowledge of construction practices.

·      Able to read blueprints/underground utility plans and interpret work assignments.

·      Possess general knowledge of construction practices

·      Capable of reading and understanding blueprints is required

·      Knowledge of various cables and drill heads a plus

·      Must have basic computer skills in order to develop and maintain bore logs, timesheets, and project tracking when applicable

 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the Drill Operator with the horizontal directional drill in accordance with blueprints and designated plans
  • Responsible for locating cables and digging in accordance with blueprints and designated plans
  • Ability to listen to and implement directions or communicating to driller and supervisor
  • Maintains company equipment per service requirements and safety guidelines
  • Assists with construction clean-up as necessary
  • And any other duties and responsibilities as assigned

 

Physical Requirements / Aptitude: 

  • Ability to work in various environments/settings with moderate to loud noise levels
  • Equipped to work in trenches, manholes and tunnels
  • Prepared to sit, stand, stop, crouch, reach and lift for long periods of time
  • Locate for Horizontal Directional Drill for Installation of underground conduit and fiber optic cable
  • Ensure safety of the public and other utilities underground facilities
  • Understand worksite safety including traffic control plans and pedestrian control * Ensure all applicable permits and locates are complete and on site
  • Inspect the work that is in progress to ensure that the workmanship conforms to specifications
  • Lead teams in the field effectively and efficiently as needed and directed by supervisor
  • Experience drilling in both standard and high-risk areas, such as areas with live utilities
  • Have knowledge of utility depths and placement
  • Possess general knowledge of construction practices and be familiar with equipment and safety
  • Ability to locate existing utilities by means of pot holing
  • Setup and cleanup of work site including traffic and pedestrian control.
  • Perform proper maintenance by greasing, oiling, and making minor repairs on equipment.
  • Respect the importance of ensuring Company assets (vehicles, equipment, tools, etc.) are properly and continuously maintained in good repair and secured in a safe manner
  • Organization of materials and other resources as necessary to complete excavation requirements, which may include basic hand tools
  • Ability to multi-task and work safely in a fast paced environment
  • Willing to work outdoors in all types of weather (i.e. snow, rain, wind, etc.) if required
  • Willing to work over-time when required

DIRECTIONAL DRILL OPERATOR

LOCATION:  Rogers, MN (Work in Twin Cities Metro Area)

 

NATURE OF WORK

 

Operates horizontal directional drilling equipment in accordance with prints and designated plans, installing 500 – 1,000+ feet of conduit in a typical workday.  Maintains equipment per manufacturer’s specifications and safety guidelines.  Responsible for assisting in potholing, remediation, setting hand holes, pulling fiber and other duties as needed on-site.  Required to keep good records, as built drawings and complete daily paperwork.
